Returning to live in LA after a long absence, my older sister Tina and I had a conversation. She knows I’m not afraid to talk about myself but it’s not something I will normally initiate. I feel it’s not cool to blow my own horn.

“It’s okay,” she said “to talk about yourself. Who will talk about you if YOU don’t bring it up? Whenever you meet someone listen to what they have to say but realize you are also worthy of being heard. You’ve set out on an exciting adventure and people won’t know about it unless you open your mouth!”

This past Monday a post from Music Marketing expert Bob Baker came strolling down my Facebook feed reading “NEW! Brilliant Marketing Idea: Present a Brag About Your [...] Day!” I realize so many other people feel the same way I do and keep things to themselves unless encouraged. But I Love To Sing was started for sharing, engaging, and celebrating the ways we pursue singing.

So each month I will give you a chance to share your music, website, youtube video, or event just by commenting on my Facebook post. It’s also great to go ahead and brag about yourself in the comments here. It’s okay! Make sure you LIKE the page and change the setting to “subscribe to all posts” so you can join in the next Brag About Yourself Day. It will help others know who you are and maybe connect you with a wonderful adventure.

Here’s the first Brag About Yourself Day thread. I’ve transcribed links below:

Well, Vance was in the middle of reading your post when I was outside in 110 degree weather jumping and dancing around to Katy Perry’s “firework” song. ( I was grilling chicken for dinner too) Does that count? I had a lot of fun. Learning some Zumba moves has helped me be a better dancer too. ’cause baby you’re a firework! Boom boom boom…. Even brighter than the moon!!!
