Throwback Thursday: 1993 – I Will Always Love HUGH

I love Throwback Thursdays as an occasion to remember the songs that became the soundtrack to my life. Today I’m reaching waaaaaay back to May of 1993 when I was barely 16, wore a lot of plaid, colored demin, Birkenstocks, and even carried a medicine pouch around my neck!

 

I was hanging out a lot with my best friend Marie and being very weird. She might even have a lot of evidence of my then love for the Brady Bunch, musical theater, choir, Nirvana, that one song by Metallica I picked up guitar to learn but gave up on, and of course, Whitney Houston‘s chart topping hit “I Will Always Love You” — the song she and I laughed all the way through as we danced at her Senior Prom.

George Barnett comes seemingly out of nowhere to get us into the groove with his disco guitar riffs and Goldfrapp inspired bassline on this cover of Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky.” This multi-talented 19 year old singer/professional model from England has never broken 100,000 views on any of his videos–even though his other music is remarkably awesome. Congrats on over a million views and counting. I have a feeling we’ll be hearing much more from him, judging on his mad musical abilities (and by my nieces’ love of British boys who can sing).
